So I've decided to build a new website (clearly). It's been awhile since my last one, I believe I had built it with "Webs" back in the day and stopped renewing my subscription, lost my domain name, etc... I kinda felt the relevance of websites were waning a bit, what with the emergence of Facebook and Instagram... I'm not on Twitter because I generally don't have that much to say and think that the world has enough people "saying" things and sharing their unsolicited opinions as it is. And I'm not on TikTok either because, well, I'm quite terrible with posting content (working on it). I think I missed the boat on being one of these "Social Influencers/Personalities"... I think I'm too busy living life through my own eyes rather than through my phone. I often forget to document or ask someone to pose or hold my phone and take a picture of me... it all feels very self serving... I guess that's the world we live in now, where if you don't have a social presence you practically don't exist to anyone... okay I'm starting to sound like an old man so I'll stop there.
So here I am figuring out this website thing, it seems the templated-do-it-yourself website has come a long way since my last one. It's still a bit of a learning curve, a couple of hair-pulling moments but all in all not too painful. The prices have gone up from what I recall (but what hasn't). I've got a year with this subscription so we'll see what I can do with it. I will add though that so far Squarespace has proven to have pretty exceptional customer service. I've been stumped on a couple issues (due to my own lack of knowledge) and they were quick to respond to my emails with complete steps on how to resolve the issues, as well as a video walkthrough of how to do it on a duplicate of my own page.
I'm going to see if I can keep this "News/Blog" section going to share what is going on, what is not going on, what has happened and what may happen... maybe share some of my thoughts on things (nothing too deep or political, there's enough of that as I mentioned). I've never done this before so if you come back and find that this stuff is deleted it's probably because I read back on it and changed my mind. But for the time being I'm here, I have no set schedule for when I'm going to write things but if you follow me on my socials (Facebook and Instagram) then I will keep you abreast of when I write something new here.
